Meira
I am single too and in my 30s - so I know exactly what you are talking about. The key is to keep yourself busy.
I do that by visiting frnds or reading or blogging or simply by going out somewhere. But the prob is most of the frnds are now married and want to spend the weekends with their better halves - so sometimes the weekends do get kinda boring !

Dear Meira

Would you be able to tell me the name of your guest house in Naples?
I am looking for exactly that kind of location to film.
It is very urgent as we're off to Italy in two days.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Best
Marcella

You think you've got problems!!!

I have a confirmed booking with addresses of where I'm going to stay and already the travel agent has booked a flight and paid R7000 for air tickets to fly to London. You see a friend and I have decided to go on a Contiki couch tour doing the European Highlights tour.

The travel agent - Flight Centre in Sunninghill - told me that I just needed to get a French Schengen visa (since we are entering France first) and a UK visa.

Now, my dad is Italian and my mom is South African, which makes me eligible for an Italian passport. So far I have not been successful in registering as an Italian citizen in Firenze because of all the documentation missing from the file, like divorce papers of my dad's first marriage. Unabridged birth certificates, etc. etc... to get those stuff could easily take you up to two to three years because of our South African home affairs system that is so efficient.

Nevertheless, I've started applying for it about 15 years ago and finally had all the documentation ready, but the Italian Consolate is not able to help me with a passport yet because they need to verify everything.

The French visa was a breeze, but the UK Border Agency refuses to give me a transit visa on my South African passport - you see: the tour starts and ends in London.

The Italian Embassy refuse to give me a passport because my details have not been verified yet and it could take another three months.

We're supposed to fly in a month's time.

The result is that I am now going to loose R7000 for a flight booking and now have to change my travel plans to get a new flight to Paris. We're probably talking about another R10000 wasted because of poor performance on the travel agents and embassy parts.

Be glad you only have one nationality to worry about.
